The kokiriko is a Japanese percussion instrument that can be played in various ways to shape various sounds. In Japan, it's also known as a 'binzasara', which roughly translates to 'collection of wood'. The Meinl KO1AM Kokiriko features a collection of little wooden slabs bound with a sturdy leather strap.
