General
With the Dexter, Polish effect maker Taurus issued a powerful effect pedal for guitar and bass guitar. Now they have followed it up with the Dexter MK-2, which is part of the brand's professional White Line series. This hand-made polyphonic octaver can add an octave on both sides of your tonal range. Both octaves can be mixed independently with the dry input signal, which allows you to use only the lower octave or only the higher one. For maximum effect, you can fully open up the Dexter. The signal processing is done by a 24-bit DSP processor, allowing for high-resolution octaving.
Taurus Dexter: control
A disadvantage of many octavers is that unwanted blur or distortion can meddle with the sound when certain notes or harmonies are played. This is not the case with the Taurus Dexter MK II, though, as its powerful 24-bit DSP processor ensures excellent tracking. The two Range knobs allow for full control over the octaver's operation. You can set the range per song, so that the octaver does its job on the right frequencies, without harming the clarity of your sound. An external 12-volt adapter is included. Should the mains power go out, the Dexter automatically switches to True Bypass mode thanks to the DC Assistant, leaving your sound intact, allowing you to simply play on. All of these high-tech features are protected by a tough, virtually indestructible housing.
Taurus Dexter MK2: compact and clever
The Taurus Dexter MK2 also does away with a tiny bit of criticism, as the previous model was rather big. The MK2 is 2.5 centimetres smaller than its predecessor, so it takes up less space on your pedal board. What's more, this pedal features Polarity Auto Detection, so that you can use it with power adapters from 9 to 12 volts, without worrying about their polarity. As high-quality a pedal as the original Taurus Dexter was, the MK2 is even better and more user friendly.
