If you want to amplify speech/vocals, audio or instruments, but don't want to deal with metres of cable, you may want to consider investing in the M-Audio Power Station. This isn't the first Power Station on the market that works with Bluetooth and an internal battery, but its integrated power socket and USB power outputs certainly set it apart from the rest. This means the speaker is wireless and all your external devices as well, including, for example, your wireless microphone set, guitar effects, audio player, laptop or smartphone.
Inputs for mic, audio and instrument
The Power Station, which has handles and wheels that make it easy to transport, features a surprising amount of audio inputs. Connect a microphone to the XLR/jack combo input and a musical instrument or second mic to the mono jack input, for instance. In addition to all this, the Power Station has two stereo inputs, which means you can connect a keyboard to the double jack, and a smartphone, tablet, MP3 player or laptop to the mini jack input. Next to the master volume knob, there are separate level controls for each input, so you can create a perfectly balanced mix.
8-inch woofer and 50-watt capacity
To fill a compact space with a lot of sound, M-Audio has equipped the Power Station with an amplifier that delivers 25 watts of continuous power and the ability to compensate for peaks of up to 50 watts. An 8-inch woofer ensures great-sounding bass tones. Thanks to an internal battery, this active speaker can be used for hours on end without being plugged into the mains. Even when you connect external devices to the Power Station's integrated power sockets, there is no need to plug it in (but it is possible to do so).
