The Empirical Labs Mike-e EL-9 is a modern microphone preamplifier with a vintage edge. Its preamp circuit is brilliantly transparent and provides an ocean of headroom. Forget about worn out, creaking knobs and use the extremely durable buttons to set the perfect amount of gain. Based on the brand's renowned Distressor, the Compsat circuit inside the Mike-e EL-9 brings your recordings to life while the saturation circuit takes you right back to that typical tape-style saturation of old. If you love the way the Compsat circuit sounds but find it just a little bit too beefy, then you always can use the Blend knob to mix in some of the clean signal.
