The Duesenberg Starplayer Special has a solid body made of alder. Its has a single-cut shape and a bolted-on maple neck. The wood types used is where this model differs from its American predecessor, which invariably uses mahogany. As you'd expect from one of Germany's top guitar builders, the neck fits perfectly. The body surrounds the heel of the neck and makes good contact all round ensuring long sustain and a distinct character. The use of maple adds a touch more attack and clarity that is often missing on other guitars of this type.

Duesenberg Starplayer Special Blue Sparkle: versatile

The Duesenberg Starplayer Special Blue Sparkle features a Grand Vintage humbucker in the neck position and a slightly higher-output Duesenberg Crunchbucker at the bridge. As its name suggests, the body has a beautiful blue sparkle finish. While this guitar screams 'rock', its Multi-Tone control means it's suitable for a variety of other styles too. The humbuckers can be switched to function as single-coils, which makes this instrument highly versatile. It's not for nothing that this model was named 'guitar of the year' in 2003.

Duesenberg got its name from a famous German car brand from the 1920s, which was synonymous with elegance, luxury and mechanical precision.
