General
The high-quality Allen & Heath ICE-16 can be used as an independent multitrack recorder, or as an audio interface in combination with a laptop. This means that you can record the 16 channels separately to a USB stick/external HDD, or directly to your Windows or Mac computer via USB or FireWire. Your multi-track recordings can be played back directly from your storage device or computer.
The inputs and outputs of the ICE-16
Audio is introduced to the Allen & Heath ICE16 via 16 line inputs. This way, you can send the signal of every separate output from your 16-channel mixer to the ICE16. Conversely, you can send the audio recordings on your USB stick or computer to the mixer via the 16 RCA outputs. The recorder registers your recordings per channel in WAV format. On the USB stick, this is done in a quality of up to 48 kHz/24 bit, and via the USB/FireWire interface in a quality of up to 96 kHz.
Daisy chaining multiple ICE-16s
When independently recording to a USB storage medium, you can also use multiple ICE-16s simultaneously, to increase the number of channels to 32, for instance. In that case, you can let them run in perfect sync via the DIN connectors. It's also possible to connect ICE16s to one another via FireWire. Lastly, this 19-inch multitrack recorder features a headphone output for monitoring, as well as the necessary LED indicators and intuitive controls.

Makkelijke aansluitingen en diverse mogelijkheden voor opname's via usb-stick of firewire kabel naar de computer. bij aansluiting via de firewire kabel en opname via de computer schakelt het display uit aan de voor kant vindt ik zelf een nadeel want die lampjes geeft een mooi gezicht maar de opname's zijn subliem ook weer een top service van de bax-shop en zeer snel in huis.

Het apparaat zit bij in ons rack, dus we gebruiken hem elk optreden.
Afspelen: de pauze muziek gaat vanuit de PC (spotify) via de ICE 16 naar het mengpaneel (RCA --> Jack).
Openemen: alle tracks gaan via de direct out vanuit het mengpaneel naar de ICE 16 (Jack -> Jack). Met de resulterende opnames krijg je een schat aan informatie. Elk foutje wordt "genadeloos" blootgelegd, omdat alle tracks individueel opgenomen worden. Deze info kun je bij een volgende repetitie voorleggen aan de band. Op deze manier kun je het niveau van de band snel naar een hoger plan tillen.
En goede opnames kun je natuurlijk afmixen en gebruiken voor een perfect klinkende demo!
Let op: zodra je een USB stick in de voorkant plaatst, wordt de usb interface richting de PC uitgeschakeld. Deze werken dus niet tegelijkertijd.
