General

Boosted by the addition of stereo inputs and outputs, a crisp and clear display screen and a stack of fresh functions, the MKII edition of the Walrus Audio Mako R1 has arrived. The options here are considerable - expand the reverb effect from a subtle reflective room to a gigantic, ethereal soundscape by scrolling through the six on-board reverb modes: Spring, Hall, Plate, BFR, Refract and Air. Behind all of that, the ducking and swelling function of this stompbox immediately upgrades the clarity and results in big, present and impacting reverbs.

The Walrus Audio Mako R1 MKII: Impressive Sound

Once you've selected your preferred reverb type, adjust the virtual room size via the Size pot and fine-tune the starting point via the Diffuse pot. From there, your custom reverb can be saved to one of 128 slots to be called up later. Via the display screen, you can access a full set of secondary parameters to further shape and mould the sound, and thanks to the MIDI compatibility, you can even scroll through presets using an external controller (not included). Every mode comes with its own character, so the Spring reverb gives you classic surf-rock-inspired sound while the Hall reverb releases interplaying ambient soundwaves. In Refract mode, you get some glitchy and granular textures added and, in Air mode, you get all out, mind-boggling yet serene ambience.
