General
The Fat Top is a passive ribbon microphone renowned for its full, warm and rounded sound. The high frequencies are naturally rolled off slightly, meaning that harshness and brittle highs are often a thing of the past without the need for additional EQ. Thanks to its symmetrical figure-8 polar pattern, you can record from both the front and the rear, with a deep null on the sides for better isolation. Suitable for studio and live use, and also excellent as a stereo pair in a Blumlein configuration.
