We already knew that John 'JR' Robinson likes big cymbals. A few years ago he already made a 24-inch ride, the Deep Ride, and now the Swish Signature Groove has been added. This cymbal also has a 24-inch diameter and is seen by Robinson as the perfect cymbal alongside his Deep Ride.

Paiste 2002 Swish Signature Groove Ride 24-inch

The cymbal is made of the well-known 2002 alloy that Paiste has been using for years. The cymbals are hand beaten and hammered in Switzerland. The result is a bright-sounding cymbal, with rich and complex overtones. The integrated cup sounds solid and bright and allows the cymbal top to sound beautifully along with it. Thanks to the 'Swish' edges, familiar from china cymbals, the cymbal generally has a full, somewhat exotic timbre. Don't let the size fool you; you can also play subtle patterns, albeit somewhat 'washy' sounding ones, with a bit of care. Still, this cymbal comes into its own especially well in medium to loud situations.

Swish Signature Groove

John 'JR' Robinson has been a sought-after studio drummer since the 1970s. He has played with numerous artists including Rufus (Chaka Kahn), Lionel Richie, Madonna, Barbara Streisand and worked with Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson on the 'Off the Wall' album. Like most studio drummers, Robinson developed a typical 'signature groove' over the years that he is instantly recognisable by. As a tribute to Robinson and his signature sound and grooves, the world-famous intro-fill with which 'JR' opens the Michael Jackson hit 'Rock with you' was printed on the cymbal top. With this cymbal in your setup, you will never be short of a fill in any case.
