General
Say Fender and bass guitar and you're essentially talking about either a Precision Bass or a Jazz Bass. If you meant the latter one, it's price can still be reason for further discussion. Those who value an authentic vintage remake of a J-Bass of old are truly pampered with an American Vintage model. This is the '64 Jazz Bass. Brand new from the American factory, it was built by vintage specifications. This version is even more special as it has the Daphne Blue finish, which was an exceptional colour option inspired by the Dupont lacquer colours that could also be seen on iconic Cadillacs.
American Vintage '64 Jazz Bass Daphne Blue: features
The lightweight alder body of this guitar provides an excellent basis for a mid-rich tone. The '64 Jazz Bass has a slender maple neck, featuring a comfortable C profile and a rosewood fretboard with 20 vintage-style frets and clay-coloured position markers. Distinctive feature of this instrument are the finger rest next to the highest string and the chromed bridge and pickup covers. Its two J-Bass single coils were especially designed for this American Vintage reissue and with the black knobs you can combine the sounds of these pickups at will to range from warm and nasal to bright and sharp.
American Vintage series: more accurate than ever before
The American Vintage series has been around for a while. The current series comprises new, iconic '50s and '60s models that have a minute vintage accuracy. To get to this point, the guitar giant tracked down and studied specs and details of numerous original vintage guitars. Fender even brushed off the tools of the period to make the result as authentic as possible. Every model has been fitted with new pickups, especially wound after the specifications and sound of the vintage reference models. It's for good reason that these models represent Fender's illustrious, 60-year-long musical history.
