Red Hot Chilli Peppers' bassist Flea has virtually redefined the role of bass guitar in modern music. This Fender Flea Signature Jazz RDWRN SHP is an exact replica of the '61 Jazz bass he played on the Stadium Arcadium and The Getaway albums. Flea's own bass has a Shell Pink Custom Colour and is possibly the only one like this in the world. That's probably why Fender decided to issue this signature model, so that fans could get their hands on this unique instrument too.
Fender Flea Signature Bass in RoadWorn Nitrocellulose lacquer
The Fender Flea Signature Jazz Bass RDWRN SHP has the same Nitrocellulose lacquer as the original '61 model. In recreating the model as faithfully as possible, Fender have included all of the signs of wear and tear found on the original too. The vintage-style Pure Vintage '64 Jazz Bass single-coil pickups deliver deep, well-defined lows with plenty of punch in the mid range and bright singing highs. Where the maple neck meets the alder body, a neck plate features the same engraving that Flea himself put on his own unique model.
Other features
The bass has stacked concentric controls with volume and tone knobs for the neck pickup and for the bridge pickup. This means that it's possible to mix the sounds from both pickups, making the Fender Flea Signature Jazz Bass extremely versatile and usable in a variety of genres. The neck has a Roadworn finish with a thin urethane coating and a unique D shape neck with a comfortable 7.25-inch fretboard radius. If you're looking for a special bass that's easy to play too, then this the perfect model for you.

De smalle, vroege jaren 60 C-vormige hals is mat geschuurd en dit voegt toe aan het ingespeelde gevoel. Net zoals de relic op de body, headstock en op de chrome hardware. De relic kon overtuigender maar voor een Mexicaanse bas is het heel degelijk.
Kwa geluid hoorde ik vooraf op reviews hoe ‘old school’ de ‘64 pure vintage pickups klonken, maar ik kan er een aardig agressieve toon uit vissen met behulp van compressie.
De nitrocellulose lak is enigszins vatbaar voor schuimrubberen gitaarstandaarden en plastic/nylon gitaarbanden dus wees voorzichtig en gebruik desnoods een standaard met koffer voering, zoals die van Fender.
Ik heb geen negatieve punten kunnen vinden aan de bas omdat het precies is wat ik hoopte dat het zou zijn.

Nu op zoek naar een fijne Fender Jazz Road Worn. Na diverse filmpjes op You Tube te hebben bekeken en de vele positieve recensies, besloot ik de Fender Flea jazz bas bij Bax-shop te bestellen. De volgende dag had ik hem al binnen. En hij valt helemaal niet tegen, integendeel zelfs. Een hele fijne bas. De vintage pick-ups klinken echt geweldig. Ik kan de Fender Flea bas heel goed in mijn coverband gebruiken. Hij is voor vele muzieksoorten inzetbaar. Met de stacked knobs kan je de neck en brug pick-ups apart regelen, zowel voor het volume als toon. Mooie "snelle" hals. Ik krijg vaak positieve reacties op de shell pink kleur.
Je hoeft niet bang te zijn dat hij beschadigd want het is een echte Road Worn. Misschien een beetje te veel beschadigd naar mijn smaak maar de rest van de bas is gewoonweg te gek.

This is a reissue of the '61 Jazz Bass in Nitrocellulose Shell Pink (probably the only one in the world!) owned by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers bassist Flea. This special model will be available in a limited number only and Bax Music will definitely be getting their hands on some!
