Foo Fighters bass guitarist, Nate Mendel’s extensive career has left a huge mark on modern alternative rock music. As a tribute, Fender have made a signature model bass guitar based on Mendel's personal 1971 Precision Bass. The Fender Nate Mendel P-Bass offers you the same subtle characteristics and distinctive features as the original and iss made in Mexico, so it is reasonably priced.
Fender Nate Mendel Precision Bass: A True Workhorse
Nate's own bass has some major modifications as well as traces of having been on the road and Fender has replicated these exactly. The ash body features a nitrocellulose lacquer finish with the Fender Road Worn treatment for a tough, aged look while the bolt-on maple neck has a 20-fret rosewood fretboard and is just 42 millimetres wide near the nut. The Fender Hi-Mass bridge offers a solid sustain and stability.
Powerful Quarter Pound pickup
The Nate Mendel Precision Bass is armed with a Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pound pickup. This split single-coil has extra large magnets for a wider frequency range, creating a fat, full, punchy sound with a massive presence in the mids and a maximum output ideal for powerful sound, yet versatile enough for lighter work. As with all most Precision models, you get a no-fuss-needed tone and volume control pot to dial in your sound.

De brug die erop zit is de Fender Hi-Mass brug en ik ben sinds het kopen van deze bas ervan overtuig dat deze brug een topper is voor Fender basgitaren.
De hals voelt fijn en lijkt ook steeds lekkerder te gaan spelen. De dunne lak laag op de achterkant van de hals is nog niet aan het slijten maar is zijn plakkerigheid compleet kwijt. Overigens heeft deze hals nooit zo erg geplakt als poly-lak halzen zoals die van de Vintera lijn. Het fretboard is onwijs mooi en donker rosewood.
Tot slot de pickup: een Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pounder. De pickup in mijn exemplaar klinkt enigszins donkerder dan andere precision basses met SPB-3's erin. Onwijs mooi!
Deze basgitaar voelt als een custom gemaakte basgitaar voor mijn stijl en ik zal hem zo weer kopen!

Ik heb de "action" een beetje moeten verhogen om het trillen van de snaren tegen de frets te verminderen, maar verder prima gitaar. En natuurlijk de ongelooflijke P-bass sound, echt geweldig.
De bas is een klein beetje road warn, had niet echt gemoeten voor mij!
Al bij al zeker een aanrader, uitstekende prijs kwaliteit verhouding

Toch heb ik deze bas gekocht en nu, een half jaar later, weet ik dat hij nooit meer weg gaat! Deze bas speelt en klinkt ongelooflijk goed. Van agressief rock tot en met Motown, alles komt hier overtuigend uit. Ik zou geen beter bas weten in dit prijssegment.
