General
The Fender Standard Jazz Bass PF features a pau ferro fretboard instead of rosewood. This type of wood has similar characteristics and is more readily available which helps to keep costs down. Like previous versions, the body is made of alder and the neck is made of maple for the same full Jazz Bass sound with plenty of definition. While it is similar, pau ferro adds a touch more bite to the sound than rosewood does and more rounded high tones than you'd get from an ebony fretboard, for instance.
