General
Reginald Fieldy Arvizu has been laying down groovy slap bass and fat bass lines since the early '90s. Back then, the Korn bassist carried a 5-string SR-style bass, which he traded in for his own Ibanez K5 model not long into the new millennium. Largely based on the popular Soundgear basses, Fieldy's signature K5 has a skilfully contoured nyatoh body and an ultra-stable, 5-piece bolt-on maple/walnut neck for a warm, balanced foundation sound and ample attack.
The K5: Here To Stay
For a consistently satisfying playing experience, this custom K5 has been equipped with an EB-7 bridge, resulting in 16.5mm string spacing. The slim K5 neck has also been topped with a 12-inch radius rosewood fretboard and 24 medium frets to guarantee maximum playing comfort while, for flexible and forceful tone, Ibanez and Fieldy have opted for two active IBZ ADX5B pickups. Combined with active electronics including a 3-band EQ and a mid-range boost/cut control, these pickups pack the sonic power to punch through any dense mix.
