General
Ibanez didn't hold back when it came to choosing wood types for the 6-string Ibanez Soundgear Premium SR1306 Natural Flat bass guitar. A total of five different woods were used, including maple/walnut for the top and mahogany for the body wings. The neck is made of 5 plies of wenge and bubinga, and has a lightly oiled finish. Of course, this 6-string bass guitar also feels fantastic and plays nice and light.
Soundgear Premium SR1306 Natural Flat
As you would expect from Ibanez, the hardware is top quality. The truss rod is easy to adjust at the 24th fret, and it has KTS titanium rod enforcements on either side. Gotoh tuners grace the headstock and are accompanied by a graphite Black Tusq string nut as well as a mono-rail bridge for extra intonation options. The Soundgear Premium SR1306 Natural Flat is equipped with two Nordstrand Big single pickups.
Nordstrand pickups
If you want a loud, almost aggressive sound like you'd get from a J-bass, then you're going to love Nordstrand pickups. The Ibanez 1306 dishes it out on the low end, but still produces sparkling trebles that don't sound metallic. It's easy to adjust the sound via the 3-band EQ, and along with a mid-frequency switch, there's also a switch to take the EQ entirely out of the equation if you want to enjoy the pure, honest sound of the Nordstrands.

As usual, Japanese manufacturer Ibanez has chosen the NAMM show in Anaheim, California to launch their new bass guitars. What better time to introduce 24 brand new models than the world's largest music gear convention, after all? Some of these new basses are based on existing models, but feature new finishes or modifications. Others are completely new, ground-breaking instruments.
