General

The Classic Vibe models made by Fender affiliate Squier are all instruments with plenty of character. The series has an unmistakable link with the vintage models and in the case of this Olympic White Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass '60s it is no different. This J-Bass shares features with its predecessor from the '60s, like a thumb rest, a vintage-tinted neck and a distinctively warm, roaring sound.

Characteristics of the Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass '60s

Being a proper Jazz Bass, this Squier contains two single-coil pickups. These single coils both have their separate volume control and there's a master tone knob to adjust the overall sound's timbre. Custom Jazz Bass pickups were designed to produce that coveted vintage Jazz Bass sound, with relatively many mids and a tone that pokes through the mix excellently. Whereas a P-Bass is more suited for conventional bass playing, this Jazz Bass also excellently copes with more prominent sections and solos.

Materials and construction

The body of this bass guitar is made of basswood, a wood type that resembles the tone of alder but is a little lighter. The maple neck is bolted onto the body and features a rosewood fretboard with 20 medium jumbo frets. Thanks to the slender neck and modern 9.5-inch fretboard radius, the J-bass warrants comfortable playing along the entire range. The HiMass-type (with brass saddles) bridge offers excellent tonal stability. This guitar has vintage-style machine heads. This Squier, built under Fender's supervision, is a solid chunk of character and offers an exceptional amount of bass playing pleasure at a reasonable price.
