General

Mike Dirnt (stage name Michael Pritchard) is Green Day's bass player. Fender and Squier have made Dirnt signature models for several years now, and all of them are equipped like the tool of the Green Day bass player. Squier already offered several specimens, and this is their second version of the Mike Dirnt Precision Bass, in sober black.

Mike Dirnt Precision Bass: version 2

The base of this Precision Bass is still the same and modelled after a '50s P-Bass. Its headstock and control plate are in'51-style, as is the Slab top. Distinctive features of the '55 P-Bass are the shape of its (pearloid) pickguard and the body contour. The jack output is (American) football-shaped and side mounted. Its signature part is the star symbol, which has moved to the neck plate, to clearly indicate where this guitar got its looks from.

Sound

Mike Dirnt supplies the punk-pop songs of Green Day with a solid bass foundation and with this Precision Bass, you can do the exact same thing. Any way you bent it, this bass guitar is excellently suited for deep, solid bass playing. The roaring split single coil is a good match for any band. The guitar's stable bridge and ditto machine heads will keep the strings balanced, even when the going gets tough. Squier offers a proper dose of Green DNA, durable build quality (as a Fender affiliate) and all at an exceptionally attractive price.
