Travel back to an era of funk, disco and punk with the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '77. This electric bass guitar is based on the 1977 Fender J-Bass. A distinctive feature of the period is the maple neck with white bindings and mother-of-pearl-coloured block inlays. This reasonably priced Squier has a slender asymmetrical body of soft maple with a beautiful transparant amber finish. A three-layer black pickguard and vintage-style logo on the headstock complete the picture.
Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '77 playing comfort
Soft maple is a type of maple that is lightweight and that produces a clear yet full sound that combines perfectly with the tight, sultry sound from the Fender-designed single-coil pickups. The vintage-tinted high-gloss neck has a comfortable C-profile and a 38.1mm width near the nut that (in combination with the modern, flat 9.5-inch fretboard radius and 20 medium jumbo frets) make it surprisingly easy to play.
The Squier brand
The most famous Fender guitars are the Precision and Jazz bass guitars and the Stratocaster and Telecaster electric guitars. Many manufacturers have imitated these, in different price ranges. In order to be able to provide a reliable and attractive alternative for beginners, Fender started their subsidiary Squier in 1982. Squier guitars and bass guitars are built according to specifications made by, and under supervision of Fender.
