The Yamaha TRBX 174 OVS is an electric bass guitar from the modern TRBX series by Yamaha, and as such it's an instrument that not only looks good but is versatile and sounds great too! This attractive and attractively-priced bass guitar is excellent for the beginning bassist, but is also an excellent choice for an advanced player with a smaller budget.
Yamaha TRBX 174 OVS electric bass guitar: alder body
The Yamaha TRBX 174 OVS (Old Violin Sunburst) has an alder body, in contrast to the mahogany bodies most of its siblings in the TRBX series have. Alder has outstanding, balanced sound characteristics and really spreads the tone out among lows, mids and highs. The mahogany neck is equipped with an Indian rosewood fretboard. The electronics at the heart of the bass are comprised of two single-coil pickups that create an incredibly defined, transparent and powerful sound. The neck pickup has a split single-coil, which ensures an extra-powerful sound without that annoying 50 Hz hum.
