Hone your skills in silence wherever you are! The Yamaha YDS-150 offers a mute option and comes fitted with an alto sax mouthpiece and, while the alto sax setting is the factory default here, you're free to turn this wonderful digital saxophone into a soprano, tenor or baritone model as needed. The mouthpiece, combined with Yamaha's unique Integrated Bell Acoustic System, ensures a brilliantly realistic playing experience by giving you the best of both worlds: the expressiveness of an acoustic instrument, plus the highest-quality digital sound. In addition to the mouthpiece, the IBAS encompasses the brass bell that resonates when air is blown through, an acoustic valve and, of course, the housing and integrated speaker system.

The Yamaha YDS-150

For the soprano, alto, tenor and baritone sounds of the YDS-150, Yamaha have recorded samples of their best acoustic instruments played by professional saxophonists. There are different modes per voice type to choose from, and you can make changes to the tonality, timbre and range at will. Whether you're into jazz or classical music, you simply select the matching samples. The YDS-150 comes loaded with no less than 73 instruments, 56 of which are sax voices - the ones you'll probably be using the most. If you want, you can always change things up and go for a tin whistle sound!

Connection Options

For silent late night practice, you can plug a pair of headphones into this Yamaha-made digital sax, and it's also possible to hook up an audio player via the AUX input. Both these inputs are standard mini-jacks. You're also getting a USB port, automatic shut-down and, most importantly, access to various extra options via the downloadable YDS control app. To finish, the YDS-150 can powered using batteries or an optional power supply and comes complete with a mouthpiece, reed, ligature, protective cap, soft case and strap.
