Gibson Custom Shop and Epiphone have joined forces to bring you the Inspired By Gibson 1959 ES-355. This brilliantly affordable yet brilliantly authentic ES-355 is based on a late '50s version of this popular thinline guitar and boasts the exact same dimensions, contours and looks. The hollow body has been constructed from laminated maple and poplar, comes with a solid spruce centre-block, and has been bound to a set-in mahogany neck.
The 1959 ES-355: Period-Correct Feel & PAF-Style Sound
The neck has a '50s Rounded Medium C profile to guarantee a period-correct playing feel, with the dark ebony fretboard and pearloid position markers serving as the authentic finishing touch. To help ensure vintage tone, Gibson has kindly supplied a pair of Custombuckers: hand-wired double-coil pickups that have been installed alongside real CTS pots and Mallory condensers. As far as the hardware goes, you're looking at a set of Grover Rotomatic tuners, a classic Tune-O-Matic bridge, and a Gibson Historic Reissue Aluminum Stop Bar. In short: maximum historical accuracy.

Vol verwachting opende ik de doos, de koffer en daar was-ie dan: de Epiphone ES 355.
Maar de blijdschap was van korte duur. De fret einden waren gewoon vreselijk slecht afgewerkt, super scherp en de binding bij de lage E snaar was over 15 cm beschadigd. Het voelde echt als een super goedkoop gitaartje!
Misschien ben ik verwend met mijn Gibson, maar ik heb ook goedkopere gitaren van Tokai, Burny en G&L die prima afgewerkt zijn voor de helft van deze prijs dus ik ben erg teleurgesteld in mijn eerste Epiphone ervaring.
Na 5 minuten voelen en droog spelen heb ik de gitaar subiet weer ingepakt en geretourneerd.
