General
The Guild Starfire I DC makes a refreshed comeback and brings a number of just as fresh upgrades. This Newark St. Collection reissue has a thinner neck, a fitted centre-block, and two new Guild HB-2 Humbuckers. The thinner neck profile immediately lifts the playability of this vintage-styled hollowbody, while the modern touch of the centre-block fitted under the arched top has the double benefit of reducing on-stage feedback and adding a little more stability in terms of both tuning and intonation. The specially developed pair of HB-2 pickups shape a deliciously classic Fifties-slash-Sixties double-wound sound with a nice extra dose of definition and, to broaden the tonal palette further, a push/pull coil-split is provided. This version of the reborn Starfire has been finished with a stopbar tailpiece.

A fabulous guitar, great action, well made, very versatile range of sounds with the coil tap function on both pickups. Very comfortable to wear for playing. I'd recommend an angled jack lead into the guitar output as a straight jack tends to get in the way. There are quite a few semi acoustics at this price point, but in my opinion this one is the best.
