General

Ibanez continue to update their range of semi-acoustic guitars to make sure the models meet the demands of any and all contemporary guitarists. At the same time, Ibanez refuses to lose sight of some of their traditions which, in the case of the AG95 Artcore Expressionist, has resulted in the familiar look of a stunning grain pattern and a chic Dark Brown Sunburst finish. In addition, the quilted ash used for the build shapes a beautifully balanced foundation sound and ample volume, while the look is accentuated by a matching scratchplate.

The AG95: Super 58 Pickups, ART-1 Bridge & VT-06 Tailpiece

The Ibanez AG95 sounds as good as it looks thanks to a pair of jazz-ready Super 58s - the very same pickups used for the George Benson, Pat Metheny and John Scofield signature models. Also, as already proven by Eric Krasno, these humbuckers can easily handle styles like funk and blues and come with individual volume and tone pots for increased tonal flexibility. The 3-piece neck combined with the ART-1 bridge and VT-06 tailpiece, meanwhile, ensure great tuning stability and optimum playing comfort.

A Comfy Workhorse for Jazz and Other Styles

The neck and fretboard are fully primed for playing joy and comfort and feature medium frets and a 12-inch radius for an immediately trusty feel, while the broad nut sets the strings far enough apart to leave ample room for more intricate licks and complex chords. Basically, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better jazz-axe in this price range.

Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95QA Dark Brown Sunburst Semi-Acoustic Guitar

Wrote the following about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95QA Dark Brown Sunburst Semi-Acoustic Guitar
My first Ibanez - I've been searching for a hollow body with Character for a while. Tried the Grestch 5655T - thinline body with a more contemporary neck profile than I expect from Gretsch (?). Nice guitar for the money, but didn't really gel with it (I know in the first 10mins if any guitar is a keeper). Next try was a Guild X-175 Manhattan. Another nice Guitar, typical thick body & chunkier neck, but the satin finish was very "rough" - I did kind of Gel with this one, but ultimately the Satin finish made it feel a lot cheaper than it's £1200 price point. So I took a complete gamble and opted for the Ibanez AG95QA - WOW. What a guitar. It has everything - beautiful "zing" to it, build is fantastic, as are the hardware & pickups - I am completely entranced by this instrument, it plays and sounds fantastic each & every time I pick it up. I can't recommend these enough. Made in Indonesia, but it smacks of Japanese design & build quality - it just looks & feels so classy, and far, far more expensive than it actually cost. My first Ibanez - definitely a keeper and rapidly becoming my new favourite in the collection.
