It's finally there: a budget-friendly version of the George Benson hollow-body guitar. The Ibanez LGB30 has the same looks and features of the exclusive LGB300, but at only a third of its price. Despite its low price, this semi-acoustic guitar has been constructed according to the exact specifications and high demands of the legendary jazz guitarist. As a result, the LGB30 is fitted with the same Super 58 humbucker pickups, is made of the same wood types and, of course, its headstock features that characteristic GB logo in pearloid. The guitar comes with a luxury Ibanez case.
Construction of the Ibanez LGB30
Just like its big brother, the LGB30 has a body made of flamed maple with an arched, spruce top. Thanks to the large cutaway in the body, you can easily reach the highest notes. The entire body was furnished with a Vintage Yellow Sunburst finish for a classic look and the neck is made of three parts of mahogany and has an ebony fretboard with 20 frets. Both the body and the neck have been fitted with elegant, multi-layered bindings. The guitar is also decorated with various pearloid inlays, in the fretboard as well as in the wooden tailpiece. This is truly a chic jazz box!
Pickups and hardware
The Super 58 humbuckers guarantee a dose of warm, vintage jazz sounds with excellent definition and response. Each pickup has its own volume and tone control, and in combination with the 3-way pickup switch, you can create a whole range of sultry or bright sounds. The Ibanez LGB30 has an adjustable tunomatic bridge on a rosewood base. However, you'll also receive a more traditional wooden bridge like the one on the LGB300. This George Benson Signature has flatwound, D'Addario Jazz Light strings.
