More-than bringing the Ludwig-grade goods, this shell set comes in a satisfying Vintage White Marine and includes a 22 inch by 14 inch 'virgin' bass drum, a 13 inch by 9 inch tom and a 16 inch by 16 inch floor tom. Every shell features 45 degree bearing edges and has been hand-finished to ensure that the thin seven-ply, 6 millimetre thick maple walls meet Ludwig's exacting standards and ensure optimal resonance and tonality. The exclusive RFST Radio Frequency Shell Technology involved in the process is extensive and, before it can even happen, the grain patterning of every last one of the seven plies of maple is examined to check that the first three plies are layered horizontally, vertically and then horizontally to form the initial 2.4 millimetres thick ring. Then, two plies are added to both sides to bring the thickness up to 6 millimetres and a special glue is applied to bond each ply to the next, completing that unmistakable and utterly unique Ludwig sound.
