General
Designed for CAST systems (Cat 5 Analogue Signal Transport), the Cranborne Audio N8 distribution hub can send multiple balanced microphone/line signals down a single CAT5, CAT6 or CAT7 cable without any signal loss, making it perfect for fully optimised, space-efficient studio set-ups with a minimum amount of cabling. A single CAST port can transfer four analogue mic/line signals across distances of up to 100 metres - including phantom power. The N8 comes with four CAST RJ45 ports and is entirely passive by design, meaning it doesn't require any external power supply. Add the N22 or N22H snake box or any other CAST-compatible gear and you've got a clean-and-professional audio network set-up that can easily provide every musician in your recording studio with their own monitor mix.
D-SUB to TRS, XLR or Any Other DB25 Connection
Connecting the N8 is easy. In addition to a DB25 input, the unit has been equipped with a DB25 output that can be linked to an audio interface. Then, you can use the XLR/TRS combo ports of an N22/N22H (not included) to hook up a microphone preamp before routing the signal to the studio room via a LAN cable. In practice, adding four N22/N22H break-out boxes gives you the option to simultaneously send up to sixteen balanced analogue audio signals to an interface, mixer, preamp or other bit of equipment, making this Cranborne Audio-developed eco-system a smart choice for any pro-level engineer.
