General

The Wood Burned Snare Drums series by Gretsch was developed together with rock drummer Matt Sorum (Guns 'n' Roses, Velvet Revolver). They were designed to serve as a platform regarding concern for our planet, and each wooden snare features beautiful artwork by the famous artist Jean Mathieu. He even burned his masterpieces into the shells by hand. The Wood Burned series is made in the Gretsch USA Custom Shop (Ridgeland, South Carolina, USA), where they also were given a high-gloss finish.

Wood Burned 14x6.5-inch snare drum: Calavera

This Calavera model is made of USA Custom Maple, which guarantees a warm, clear tone. The 6-ply shell is equipped with a 30-degree bearing edge for excellent resonance and long sustain. The combination of maple and die-cast rims results in a powerful sound and a surprising amount of volume. The Wood Burned snare drum Calavera comes complete with Remo drumheads.

Illustrations

The Calavera snare is a tribute to Mexico's Day of the Dead, as it features various illustrations inspired by this country's mysterious culture, such as sugar skulls.
