General
This snare drum with black hardware is made of eight plies of maple, bringing the total shell thickness up to 7 millimetres. Maple offers excellent tonal properties and resonance, so it's no wonder that it is the only wood type used for the back and sides of instruments from the violin family. It produces a bright sound with plenty of attack, and besides offering a great balance between mids and highs, it emphasises the low-end.
Tama MAS1455BN-BCS Starclassic Maple Black Clouds snare drum 14 x 5.5
With its 14-inch diameter and 5.5-inch depth, this snare drum is well-suited for all-round drummers. The die-cast hoops allow for a balanced, warm sound and ensure that your drum stays in tune for a long time. To help your drums stay in tune, the tension rods are fitted with Hold Tight cup-washers, which are fitted with rubber rings to prevent them from coming loose. The new Snappy Snares consist of 20 strands, and make better contact with the resonant head for a tighter and clearer sound. Furthermore, you can easily replace the resonant head without having to completely remove your snare wires. Simply undo two screws and detach one end of the Snappy Snares, allowing you to reattach them with the same tension settings as before. Finally, all hardware on this snare drum has a black nickel finish.
