Tama PST148E Starphonic Steel 14 x 8 Limited Edition snare drum

General

The PST148E Starphonic Steel snare drum is not for faint-hearted drummers. At 14 x 8 inches, it's substantially larger than other snares, giving it a full, deep sound. Add to that the fact that the shell is made from a 1mm-thick layer of steel, and you can bet this snare can deliver enough volume to cut through any mix or noisy backline! What makes it even more special is that there are only 50 available world-wide, so if you want one, you'll have to act fast!

Grooved Hoop and Claw Hook

Tama believes that a special drum deserves special hardware, which is why they've equipped this Starphonic Steel with Grooved Hoops and the Claw Hook system. The hoops aren't pre-drilled for tension rods, but are kept firmly in place with tension hooks instead for more stability and resonance Thanks to the eight innovative Freedom Lugs, tuning this snare is a breeze as well.

Other hardware

Tama equipped this snare with a Linear Drive strainer to keep the wires securely in place. This strainer prevents a single wire from touching the head when it's engaged because it has no acceleration at the end. They've also included the patented Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Snappy snares for a sharp, crisp sound. Last but not least, it comes complete with a G1 Coated batter head and a Snare Side resonance head by Evans.
