Steinberg develops several powerful software packages that have a price tag that's just as impressive as their functionality. With WaveLab Elements 8, you're getting your hands on the serious basic functions of WaveLab 8, but at a much more friendly price. This makes the audio editing package perfect for freelance musicians, journalists, and smaller studios.

Plugins

The Elements version contains 17 professional VST3 plugins including the Sonnox Restoration Suite, which allows you to edit and upgrade audio files in great detail. For depth analysis you can use the included three-dimensional spectral analysis function, the Spectroscope, Oscilloscope, and Level Meter.

Functions

WaveLab Elements 8 works on a maximum of 96 kHz, and features a 32-bit floating point audio processor. For mastering your audio, use the studio-quality Brickwall Limiter and the Tube Compressor. This software has an improved user interface that focuses on a more efficient workflow. The Audio File Browser structures your file collection, and you even have various podcast tools at your disposal. It's clear that WaveLab Elements 8 is anything but running short. It's the perfect package for price-conscious audio fanatics.

If you're familiar with music editing software, the name Steinberg will most likely ring a bell. The well-known WaveLab Pro and Elements editions of this software have been the cream of the crop for years, after all. Recently, Steinberg launched a new line of programs called WaveLab Pro 9 and WaveLab Elements 9, focusing on both the professional studio engineer (Pro 9) and the home-studio producer (Elements 9). Make no mistake, we're talking about full new editions, not just updates. You'll find a number of interesting improvements on the previous editions of these two programs.
