Very compact when fully folded in, and remarkably robust and stable. Im very pleased with the pair I just bought. You will probably need an adaptor to take the 5/8" screw down to the more typical 3/8" of a microphone mount. Consider pairing this with AirTurns compatible telescoping boom accessory. ¶ The weakest elements are probably the knobs which tighten the collars between the sections you could devise a wrap to protect this region in transit, and a protective drawstring bag for the whole thing would also be a smart idea.
