In the past, children were often taught the recorder from boring, dusty books with lots of text. If you were lucky, there was a nice picture somewhere in the book and if you practised well, you got a sticker in your notebook. Children today are used to very different things and need a bit more motivation to practise. They don't do it for a sticker anymore. Voggenreiter has developed two educational and interactive games especially for children aged 6 and up: Rhythmic Village and Flute Master. The app works on Android, iOS and Windows and is suitable for smartphones, tablets and laptops. The app is available in Dutch, English, German, Spanish, Italian and French, among other languages.

Using fun and challenging games, you will learn more and more about melodies as you go along. With the wooden recorder included, you actively participate in the game - as you have to play simple exercises on the flute. The app tells you exactly what you are doing right and wrong - and it is incredibly motivating for children to 'finish' each level as well and as quickly as possible with the highest possible score. You can use one licence code to install the app on three different devices. The recorder included has a double bore and baroque fingering - a great flute to start with. Would you rather use a different instrument? You can, as long as your device's microphone can hear the instrument properly. For best results, it is recommended to play with headphones. If you prefer to play without headphones, you may need to adjust the microphone's sensitivity a little to the ambient noise and the sounds of the app itself. This is easy to do via the app's menu and it is self-explanatory.
