TC Electronic PolyTune 3 Noir Polyphonic Tuner with Buffer

This is by far the best tuner pedal I have ever owned... and I've tried quite a few. Tc Electronic have perfected their design and shrank it down to fit pedal boards of any size, from those with a tiny foot print to those of us with GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) who have monstorous collections but are still trying to shoehorn "just one more" pedal onto their board. Being a limited edition "Noir" model this pedal stealthily fits nicely in place. Despite its small size this little pedal has had a big impresiion on me as the LED display is crystal clear and hard to miss, on a dark stage or in bright studio environment. Some people may dislike that this cannot be powered by batteries but this is only due to the pedal being little bigger than a 9 volt battery itself. To make up for this the tuner comes with the secret weapon of Tc Electronics Bonafide buffer build in and selectable from a nifty set of dip switches hidden on the side of the unit which can't be knocked by accident. I have found that this helps restore some clarity to my sound as I use long cables and a lot of pedals, and to my surprise now allows my vintage spec fuzz pedals to play nicely alongside my wah pedals which is worth the price of admission alone. For anyone on the fence, please buy one, if not for yourself they make a perfect gift, or even stocking filler, for the noise maker in your life. It will make a trusty addition to any musicians arsenal and one that will be staying permanently. Can't say better than that.

I've been using a Korg DT10 tuner for the past 10+ years but decided to try something new. Two things I disliked about the Korg are that they don't like being part of a daisy chained power supply as they introduce a lot of noise into the signal chain to the extent that they have to be powered separately and they can take some time to recognise the B and sometimes E string of the bass.



Thankfully the Polytune 3 doesn't suffer from either of these things. I have it hooked up with a power supply powering another 5 pedals and there is no noise at all. Plus it tracks all notes right down to the low B of my bass very quickly. I can see me investing in the clip on version for taking to rehearsals if it's going to be as good as this one is.
