As its name implies, this guitar is just three-quarters the size of the Fender Sonoran. It has the same characteristics, but in a smaller body. This acoustic steel-string guitar is a limited edition and an excellent choice for those looking for a practical travel guitar. Also younger Fender fans will appreciate the body's small size as it makes it easier to play more challenging chords with shorter arms. The Sonoran Mini is an acoustic guitar for a friendly price and yet has the unmistakable Fender signature. The included gig bag is very practical for immediate travelling or touring.
Sonoran: wood types
A guitar is a natural instrument and it is important to know it is cut from the right stuff. This mini Sonoran has an agathis top combined with sapele sides and back. The neck is made of mahogany and has a rosewood fretboard with 18 frets and white position markers. Inside, this Sonoran has X-bracing. The headstock is characteristic to the Sonoran series and modelled after the Fender Stratocaster. The shiny body is adorned with a checkerboard-style rosette.

Het geluid. Bovenal is het een Fender van 139 euro. De prijs geeft al aan wat je daar van kan verwachten. Het is een low bidget gitaartje. Echter komt er een vrij goed geluid uit, de hals is goed bespeelbaar, ook voor een beginneling, maar diezelfde hals is beslist géén electrische- gitaar- hals. Ja, de headstock ziet er wel zo uit, maar de hals is gewoon praktisch dezelfde als die van mijn CD60, maar dan kleiner/korter. Niet zoals mijn Stratocaster dus. Die voelt veel smaller, gladder en fijner aan dan dit.
Moet nog wel wennen aan het 'kleine' ukelele geluid, vergeleken met een 4/4 gitaar, maar eigenlijk klinkt dat wel leuk. Vooral als je met twee andere mensen speelt die op gewone gitaar spelen krijg je een leuk effect.
Voor die prijs geen verkeerde aankoop. Stel dat je hem verliest tijdens een reis of stuk maakt of zo, dan koop je zo weer een andere. Al denk ik wel dat ik er binnenkort andere snaren op ga zetten.
