General
The Ibanez AW400-LVS is a classic model, built according to modern technologies. The result: traditional looks and a sound that exceeds that of original, older models. When you look at all the tasteful details, you'd think this model would be rather pricey. But don't be blinded by its looks! For a solid top acoustic guitar, this dreadnought from Ibanez's Artwood Series comes at a surprisingly low price. This makes the AW400-LVS perfect for beginners who take their new hobby seriously and for advanced players with a limited budget.
Ibanez AW400-LVS: solid top
This steel-string western guitar has a dreadnought model which has distinctive square shoulders and a wide waist. As the body is also quite thick, this guitar produces a deep, full sound. The AW400-LVS is an acoustic guitar with a solid spruce top. The advantage of a solid top instead of a laminated top is that the guitar resonates better, resulting in a louder sound and a better projection.
Finish and details
The neck, sides and back of the Ibanez AW400-LVS are finished with a matte lacquer for a satin-like feel. The top has a high-gloss lacquer with the beautiful Light Violin Sunburst colour. Although this western guitar comes at a friendly price, it looks rather luxurious with its subtle yet tasteful decorations. Along the body you can find tortoise bindings and a tortoise pickguard below the sound hole protects the varnish. The string nut and the bridge saddle are made of bone for a clearer tone with better durability.
