General

The Parlor-model acoustic guitar is characterised by its compact-sized body and a focused, articulate sound. Takamine's version is the New Yorker: this GY93-NAT is the Parlor of the 2013 G Series. The G90-version is the most luxurious version of that series. As such, the GY93, just like the other models from the series, features an exceptionally attractive three-piece back and beautiful wooden bindings. This guitar is also available with built-in electronics and goes by the name GY93E.
Takamine GY93's body and finish
The GY93 acoustic guitar has a top made of solid spruce while the sides and back are made of chocolate-brown rosewood. This combination of wood types is quite popular, due to the full, warm, yet bright sound it produces. The middle of the back is made of quilted maple with two narrow strips of flamed maple, giving this guitar a charming look and a distinctive, acoustic sound.
Hardware and details
The rosewood fretboard, with 20 frets, is decorated with position markers made of abalone and mother-of-pearl. Another subtle, elegant detail are the dark wooden inlays along the edge of the top (purfling) and around the sound hole. The Takamine GY93-NAT is equipped with a set of high-quality gold-plated tuners with black-coloured controls. The string nut as well as the bridge saddle are made of synthetic bone. Schitterende gitaar en bovendien geweldig afgewerkt. Ondanks een enkele review die ik zelf van tevoren gelezen had heeft mijn exemplaar gelukkig geen problemen met frets, spacing of wat dan ook. Stemmen hoef je ook niet vaak te doen!

En belangrijker nog: hij klinkt heerlijk. Alle snaren komen qua geluid even goed door en hij klinkt mooi vol zonder helderheid te verliezen. Op veel andere gitaren merk ik vaak dat fingerstyle niet helemaal lekker gaat omdat het volume ontbreekt, maar deze Takamine lijkt er écht voor gemaakt te zijn. Hij is namelijk LUID. Wel iets om rekening mee te houden als je veel met plectrum speelt en je buren te vriend wil houden.

Vijf sterren. Deze gitaar was het maandje wachten absoluut waard!
