General
With the Sonarworks Reference 4 Studio Edition with Mic, you can confidently lean back on your well-honed mixing intuition. The advanced Sonarworks equalizer eliminates all unwanted colouration in your headphones and speakers, leaving a balanced frequency response you can completely trust. The software is made up of three modules: an AU/VST/RTAS/AAX DAW plug-in, a system-wide version for standalone use, and a calibration program.
Self-Calibration
Sonarworks Reference 4 comes with a wide array of headphone profiles, and since calibrating your speakers hangs heavily on the kind of space you're in, it's often a manual routine. To ease the process, Reference 4 Studio Edition provides an outstanding, purpose-developed calibration program. While it may sound complex, thankfully, it's really not. All you need to use this smart program is an audio interface with a microphone input and a microphone cable so you can connect up the included meter microphone. Every included meter mic has been pre-calibrated by Sonarworks, so once you're set up, the program will let you know where to place to the mic to collect the data to aid speaker calibration.

I got it on sale and thought it was still probably an expensive toy... now I realize it's cheap at full price. The set up is a bit long-winded but it's very clear and obviously works, because the results are great. I thought I'd just be fixing a few frequency issues with my room, but honestly the biggest change was the difference it made to the stereo field - I'd never realized how off my centre was. Night and day, can't live without it now.

it's one of these things that once you do it, there's no coming back. My sound system now sounds crap if I turn this off. To be fair, my room has some serious acoustic problems, but I was still amazed by how well Reference handled them. my mixes sounds much better

Erg goed product! Zowel met koptelefoons als speakers een flinke verbetering van het geluid. Mijn studio is akoestisch verre van optimaal maar ik ben wel gewend aan de kamer. Echter met de plugin erover komen alle individuele geluiden een stuk beter naar voren wat het mixen enorm verbetert. Mijn mixen zijn meer in balans en ik kan de elementen beter plaatsen in het stereoveld. Wat mij betreft zeker een aanrader. Enige nadeel is dat het even een flinke investering is, maar uiteindelijk het geld zeker waard!

Dus Sonarworks besteld om het eens te meten.
Best wel even een werkje met alle metingen die je moet doen etc., maar het resultaat is er naar.
Alhoewel de aanpassingen kwa akoestiek al een hele verbetering was, zijn dit de spreekwoordelijke puntjes op de 'i'.
Blij met het resultaat .... klinkt strak en gedefinieerd.
Dus Sonarworks besteld om het eens te meten.

Mooi spul. Goed te gebruiken en goed te co figureren. Mijn studioruimte is sub-optimaal maar dit helpt een eind in de goede richting. Werkt goed op de Mac en prima samen met Logic Pro x. Verdiep je even goed in de videos op YouTube (hey Bax, leuk om dat ook eens te linken in de product page ).
Ik denk niet dat ik nog zonder zou willen.

Mijn setup staat vanwege ruimte gebrek in de woonkamer. Deze is akoestisch verre van ideaal (speakers tegen de muur, speakers op bureau, veel reflecties).
Met deze software klinken mijn speakers (op de zelf aangegeven sweet spot) weer zoals het hoort.
Beter zelfs nog.
Het instellen gaat super makkelijk:
- De Input gain van je microfoon I.c.m het juiste speaker volume wordt bepaald.
- De linker en rechter speaker worden afzonderlijk gemeten
- Je bepaald je luisterpositie, door een meting
- De afstand tussen jouw en je speakers (ook tussen de speakers zelf) was bij mij door de software op de cm nauwkeurig al goed bepaald.
- Vervolgens moet je de microfoon op 30 (!) posities - gericht tussen de 2 speakers - houden.
Daarna ben je klaar en begint het genieten.
Kortom: Heel erg blij mee en een aanrader!

Ongelofelijk goed product, ik dacht dat mijn studio setup goed klonk zonder maar niets is minder waar! Ma het analyseren bleek dat er een diepe dip was rond 100hz dus door deze software klinken mijn speakers pas echt flat!
Dag en nacht verschil het is een wonder middel maar wel de meest budget vriendelijke manier om je Semi-pro home studio setup zo flat mogelijk te kalibreren! Een echte aanrader!
