Product information

General

Studio monitors come in all kinds of shapes and at all kinds of price points. Some are more neutral-sounding than others; brand A may deliver better performance than brand B and some brands offer tonal customisation in relation to acoustic environment while others do not. So how come studios often use Behringer Behritone gear? It's not like the Behritone C5A is going to win awards and prizes when it comes to its total sound quality. That's exactly the point, though! When you finish your primary mixing and editing phase using a pair of decent, preferably full-range speakers, this Behritone speaker comes in for the final touches. After all, your mix is only considered complete when it sounds great through a Behritone ; an unsuspectingly practical investment, even if only used to do a final check in mono.

Behringer Behritone C5A Active Studio Monitor (single)

Recently purchased a single Avantone Active Mixcube & was very unhappy with the sound. They sounded too full, muddy/boosted in the 200-500hz range and did not give me that mono, midrange only tool I was hoping for. Despite persevering with them, they just were not working for me.

I went online, searching for some orginal Auratones and could not find any in the UK. I then looked for some other options and found the Behritone C50a, Behritone C5A & Fostex 6301b. I could not find that much, if any user reviews on the Behritone's or any Youtube reviews. I purchased the Behritone C5A anyway, thinking that they would be best for tool for what I wanted.

I can honestly say, that I am over the moon with these.

1) The transient response of drums instantly comes through letting you know if your kick is knocking too hard or soft.

2) The levels of snares, synths, vocals are right there in your face and shows you if something is too loud or quiet.

3) Bass - If you cannot hear the bassline on the C5A, then yep you guessed it, your not going to hear it on your laptop, mobile phone, TV etc

4) No sub frequencies & no higher frequencies, just the midrange. I can eq the midrange frequencies/instruments (most important) on this little monitor with ease.

5) The build quality is very good and feels robust. The monitor weighs quite abit (heavier than the Avantone).

6) Volume - With the volume knob at 0 its plenty loud enough and I would say just as loud as the Mixcube even though the C5A only has a 30w amplifier.

7) No humming! My Avantone Mixcube had a annoying low level hum and this bugged me, alot! The C5A has some noise but very slight and again, NO HUM

8) Inputs - XLR, RCA, 1/4 jack

9) The C5A only cost me £85!!!! The Avantone Mixcube was £250 and the vintage Auratones are £500+ if you can find one!

All in all, this little monitor the Behritone/Auratone C5A is a no brainer & I would recommend it to any serious engineer, especially over the Avantone Mixcube.

Behringer Behritone C5A Active Studio Monitor (single)

Would 0 stars if I could. This is a Chinese copy of the 5C from the original Auratone company. It’s simply a Behritone where they swapped the logos.

Behringer Behritone C5A Active Studio Monitor (single)

Behringer Behritone C5A Active Studio Monitor (single)
