Pioneer DJ RM-05 coaxial monitor

Pioneer has gone coaxial! Their RM-05 monitor is equipped with a 5-inch woofer and a 1.5-inch hard-dome tweeter, delivering an impressive frequency range of 45 Hz to 50 kHz. To prevent phase issues, Pioneer has chosen a coaxial speaker setup. In regular monitors, the tweeter is mounted above the woofer, which means there's only a single spot in your mixing environment that's entirely free of phase differences. As the RN-05 places the woofer and the tweeter on the same axis, their sound emanates from the exact same point, effectively solving that problem. An excellent reference tone is guaranteed!

Pioneer RM-05: compact, powerful and accurate

For studio monitors, accuracy is the magic word. Thanks to its coaxial design, the RM-05 has a remarkably compact cabinet, which is made of die-cast aluminium to optimally reduce noise, and has curved contours to minimise external diffraction and annoying resonance. The RM-05 also houses an AFAST acoustic tube, which reduces standing waves and enables the relatively small monitor to deliver impressive low-mid frequencies. A front-mounted bass reflex port only adds to the monitor's outstanding bass reproduction.

Electronics

Like most monitors in this segment, the Pioneer RM-05 features two amplifiers: one for the tweeter and one for the woofer. Both have an output of 50 watts, amounting to a total power of 100 watts. If you like, it's possible to subtly alter the monitor's output. At the back you'll find EQ dip switches that individually control the low, mid and high frequencies, offering a choice of -4, -2, 0 or +2 dB. Use them to fine-tune the RM-05's output to the acoustics of the room. Located below the EQ, there's a balanced XLR input and an unbalanced RCA connector for your signal input.
