General

This HS8I studio monitor by Yamaha can be used for just about anything thanks to its 8-inch woofer and 1-inch tweeter. The speakers are separately driven by a bi-amplified system to deliver a broad, neutral frequency response that's ideal for audio mixing and mastering. What's more, Yamaha has equipped this monitor with 4 pre-drilled mounting points so you can install it on a wall or suspend it from the ceiling, making the HS8I highly versatile. Commercial applications and editing rooms where space is limited are sure to benefit from the mounting options of this monitor, which are a result of feedback Yamaha received based on their previous HS series.

Optimised exterior

To keep unwanted resonance to a minimum, a special type of MDF was used in a closed cabinet construction based on 100 years of piano-design experience! The corners of the HS8I are anchored, ensuring a long lifespan and ultra-reliability and stability. Most importantly, it prevents vibrations from having a negative effect on the sound.

Connection options and controls

The HS8I is equipped with a TRS jack as well as an XLR input so you can connect both balanced/unbalanced audio sources. It also features a practical control for manually adjusting the tonal characteristics of the sound according to the acoustics of the room. If the monitor is close to a wall, for instance, it could cause the low frequencies to get jumbled together. The Room Control function allows you to remove any excess bass so you can create a more balanced mix. If excess trebles are the problem, you can use the High Trim function.

Ik had HS5 al van deze lijn, maar was niet helemaal tevreden over de bass tonen. Nou dat probleem is opgelost hoor. Wat een geweldige speakers. Misschien een beetje teveel capaciteit oor mijn ruimte waar ze in staan. Maar beter iets over , als iets te kort. Een echte aanrader.

Prima speakers, ondanks de lage prijsklasse. Ze zijn iets minder 3D in het geluid dan de klassieke NS10's, maar ze hebben wel een stevig laag en zijn behoorlijk capabel als nearfields. Deze jongens degraderen de HS5 tot multimedia speakertjes. De witte versie geeft een meer fancy look dan de zwarte, die ik persoonlijk wat plastic-achtig vind overkomen. Deze speakers vertalen de mix behoorlijk goed naar andere systemen, daarom ben ik er zelf wel fan van. Voor echte definitie in het sublaag heb je nog wel een subwoofer nodig.
