Nyx.... Nyx.... Maybe it doesn't tell you anything, but this is a synth that came out years ago. Now it's and re-issue, back to the compact size of the original Nyx, after the Nyx V2 once brought out a considerably larger one. At its core, it is a rather experimental synth, with two oscillators that can also be used jointly and paraphonically. There are also filter options and some modest modulation possibilities. So where is the secret sauce of this synth?
Capabilities of the Dreadbox Nyx Re
There is a section where - Eurorack-style - you can patch the various parts together. There's also a reverb in there again, and it's even prominent. So you can see that reverb as more than just a spatial effect, you can really add it to your synth model. Furthermore, this Nyx is USB-powered, which in practice means you can even power it with a powerbank. Here are mobile possibilities! Otherwise, 'tis thus an experimental feast, and that's nice if you're into the Eurorack world anyway. Seen this way, you can also think of the Nyx as a collection of Eurorack modules in a single housing. And when you do the maths, the price isn't too bad either. Looking for a good piano sound? This is not it. But if you like to experiment, and distance yourself from all conventional instruments, this is quite a fun synth to mess around with!
