There are few synthesizers as truly awesome as the Waldorf Quantum. Fitted with a keyboard and packed to the very rafters with potential as well as luxurious extra, the jaws of synth-geeks the world over hit the floor and buzzed with expectation: when would a modular version arrive? The Iridium is a touch smaller than the Quantum, has a slightly more sympathetic price, and the keyboard has been removed, but this hulk of a unit compromises nothing in terms of function. Sixteen voices, various audio sources and filters, six envelopes, six LFOs, an insanely extensive modulation matrix and, of course, more. In fact, the Iridium has so much on offer, the control panel should be a teeming mass of knobs, and while it is well-populated, the face of this desktop unit is neat, clean, clear, and comes supported by a nicely sized touch-screen.

Waldorf IRIDIUM 16-Voice Synthesizer

Deze had ik al een tijdje in het oog, en met een hele mooie B-stock aanbieding kon ik de verleiding niet weerstaan. Gelukkig geen moment spijt van. De B-stock was helemaal netjes - niets op aan te merken. Ook de volgende dag in huis zoals beloofd. De synth is waanzinnig diep en heeft een geweldige interface. Hier ga ik lekker induiken deze kerstvakantie!

Waldorf IRIDIUM 16-Voice Synthesizer

Ik ben ertoe overgegaan om deze synth te kopen ondanks de vele negatieve reviews op vele forums.
En jawel hoor..na een paar dagen goed gewerkt te hebben kwam al de eerste fout.
Bij startup een blank screen en de unit was onbruikbaar..daarna een restart..alles was hersteld.
Bij nader inzien is de synth op de global page van 2020 dus 3 jaar oud verkocht als nieuw door Bax.
Compleet met achterhaalde firmware 2.5 die ik heb moeten bijwerken naar de laatste 2.8.

Nou heb ik de synth pas een week in huis dus ik geef hem nog een kans..en het is nog te vroeg om
er iets definitiefs over te zeggen..maar gezien ik al binnen een week van gebruik problemen met
het scherm ondervind en God weet wat me nog meer te wachten staat betwijfel ik ten zeerste of
ik de Iridium (desktop) zal houden.
Het is jammer want de software is geweldig..de hardware daarentegen is twijfelachtig vooral het scherm.
En dat voor 22+honderd euro is in mijn boek niet aanvaardbaar.
Dus..waarschijnlijk gaat hij terug vanwaar hij gekomen is.
Ik zal de synth opnieuw kopen als Bax mij een recent exemplaar kan leveren niet van 2020.
Omdat de meeste problemen dezer dagen zijn opgelost..recent batches instead of old batches.
Als u mij niet gelooft in mijn oordeel check out de problemen met de Iridium in the forums.
Gearspace alleen staat er vol mee.
