General

If you are already familiar with Remo's Emperor heads, the Emperor Ebony heads will certainly appeal to you. You will notice that these drums are a fraction thicker, which provides a better attack and more controlled sound. The heads consist of two film layers. The black top layer has a thickness of 7.5 mil (0.195 mm) and lies on a transparent underlayer with a thickness of 7 mil (0.18 mm). The sheets are highly durable and hard-wearing. The black colour is not a coating or paint and will therefore not peel or chip. For a bright, warm sound with powerful attack and clear stick definition, the Emperor Ebony heads are a very interesting choice for you.

Wrote the following about Remo BE-0018-ES Emperor Ebony 18 inches

Zeer goed vel. Mooi afgewerkt zoals altijd bij Remo. Klinkt heel goed. Ideaal voor pop/rock. Het vel heeft genoeg punch/attack en power maar heeft ook helderheid en een lange sustain. Gaat ook nog eens lang mee. Ik weet niet of het echt zo is, kan ook gevoelsmatig zijn maar ze lijken ten opzichte van de (gewone Emperor) clear vellen wat 'darker' te klinken. Aanrader!
