The book is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, we find a large number of basic exercises from the well-known Arban method. The second chapter deals with 'lip-slurs', these exercises also come from the Arban method. Studying these regularly will significantly improve your embouchure and endurance. In chapter three we find exercises from the St Jacome method that deal with articulation. Chapter four deals with intervals and the final chapter explores various trills and other embellishments. The student's level does not matter with this book. Both beginners and experienced wind players will find exercises of value. This edition is suitable for trombone and baritone. The exercises are written in the F clef.

Arban and St. Jacome

Playing songs with play-along CDs is obviously great fun and educational, but to really master an instrument well, it is actually necessary to pay just as much attention to technique and embouchure. The two most widely used methods for brass instruments worldwide are those of Arban and St. Jacome. Both methods were written in the ^19th century and have been compulsory reading for trumpet and trombone students at conservatoires around the world ever since.
