General
Most people shopping for a ukulele listen first and look second. Sometimes, though, you simply want an instrument that gets noticed the moment you lift it out of the bag. Zebra wood does exactly that: a timber with pronounced dark stripes that gives every piece its own grain. Cascha uses it for the body of this CUCZW1, while the matte finish and black ABS binding keep the whole thing elegant rather than busy. According to Cascha, this wood also produces a warm, full sound. Around a campfire or at a small concert, this concert ukulele is aimed at ambitious beginners and advanced players.
Playing comfort and finishing
A good-looking ukulele is only really enjoyable if it plays comfortably too. This model has an okoume neck with a walnut fretboard and bridge, which makes for very comfortable playability, and the nut and saddle are made of ox bone. The Cascha carbon strings deliver a brilliant sound, precise intonation and tuning stability, and the black tuning machines are the open gear type. With a scale length of 380 millimetres and a nut width of 35 millimetres, you have enough room for your chords. Two strap pins are already fitted, so attaching a strap takes no effort, and the padded gig bag with accessory compartment means you can simply take the instrument with you.
