If you're hunting for a 500-rack-worthy FET compressor, then you probably won't get any better than a Lindell module. You could opt for the 7X-500; the 77X-500 stereo version; or, you could go for the Lindell Audio 7X-500VIN. While this module looks a lot like the standard 7X-500, the VIN lays on the vintage '60s flavour via dual OPA amplifiers. In terms of controls, this is as simple as its gets: three attack and release speeds, three ratios, and three side-chain HPF frequencies, but most of the time, you're likely to be playing with the mix knob, trying to strike that sweet nuanced balance between the compression and dry signal. In short, this is a truly stunning compressor built for engineers that know exactly what they need.
