With SPL TDx Transient Designer, you can boost or weaken the punch and/or sustain of your tracks. This can of course also be done with a compressor, only the TDx does this using transients instead of input level. So there is no threshold. This means that you can also make very soft notes a bit pointier or make them sound longer. Try doing that with a compressor. The SPL TDx is a single-channel unit that takes up one slot in your 500 series rack.
