They have a steel core surrounded by a wrap of 80/20 bronze, which is a copper-tin alloy known for its very bright sound, with pronounced mids and highs and lots of sustain. With their diameters of .013 to .056 inches, these are quite solid strings, less suitable for beginners as you have to apply a fair amount of force to them.
