The Elixir 16027 phosphor bronze strings are ideal for acoustic guitars with a darker sound (like those with a cedar wood top). But they are also ideal for fingerpickers that are looking for strings with bite. Phosphor bronze has a brilliant, complex and rich tone that has just a bit more sparkle than 80/20 bronze. The wound strings in this Elixir 16027 set have an extremely thin Nanoweb coating that counters corrosion and dirt accumulation. The unwound strings are equipped with a galvanised anti-corrosive layer. This makes them last 3 to 5 times longer than traditional uncoated strings and they will retain their bright sound much longer too.

Why use Elixir coated strings?
Environmental elements like moisture in the air, or sweat from your finger tips can make metal strings corrode very rapidly. Dirt may also build up between the windings of the string. This impedes the vibrations and means you lose the intensity of the frequencies, making the string sound ‘dead’. These Elixir strings have a thin protective coating of fluorinated polymer, that creates a barrier between the string and the environment, without making it feel any different to the guitarist. The result is a string set that retains its clear sound for a longer period and has an extra long life-span.
