The Framus 05/024 Vintage Hootenanny 6-String Sunburst Nitro is an acoustic western guitar with an all-solid body of mahogany and a spruce top. This combination creates a powerful and full sound, with a clear midrange and high volume with plenty of sustain. The trapezoidal tailpiece, the Framus logo inlaid with copper and the wide, curved pickguard (black, but a tortoise one is also included as an extra) give this guitar a wonderfully retro look. Framus was then also the biggest European brand for guitars in the 1960s, thanks in part to fan John Lennon. This version was finished with Sunburst Nitro or nitrocellulose lacquer applied in a very thin layer so that the wood resonates better and the natural sound characteristics are not affected.

Zero fret

The neck of this 05/024 Hootenanny is solid mahogany and was glued (set neck) at the level of the twelfth fret. The rosewood fingerboard is flat (i.e. without radius). Just below the nut - which has a width of 44 mm - is a so-called "zero fret", which ensures that the strings are always all at the same height, the nut only affects the spacing (distance between the strings). This makes it easier to use different thicknesses of strings, and it also affects the sound: open strings sound the same as when you press them against a fret. The nulfret also benefits the intonation of the strings, and makes it possible to set the action very low. For the latter, the height-adjustable bridge also comes in handy; you can adjust this Framus guitar completely to your preference without having to do any complicated interventions. The round shoulder dreadnought body is compact but still delivers strong acoustic volume and a rich sound with plenty of projection.
